NBA Twitter Reacts to the T-Wolves Trading Towns

On the first anniversary of the Damian Lillard trade, there wasn’t much talk of a sequel.

Especially given how the NBA breaking-news media is in limbo with Adrian Wojnarowski’s retirement and Shams Charania’s looming contract expiration with The Athletic.

Nonetheless, we still got our Lillard sequel. The Minnesota Timberwolves are sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, in what looks to be a three-team trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

Charania beat ESPN’s Bobby Marks by one minute. For the first time in the post-Woj era, the NBA world is shell-shocked again, including Towns himself.

I will hang my hat on KAT being the most loyal player in the NBA. Nearly a decade in the Twin Cities, sticking it out through primarily dark years.

Three-straight playoff appearances, and now KAT is out in a seemingly blindsided trade.

Just two days ago, at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new school in the Bronx, Julius Randle—the longest-tenured player on the team—was honored for donating $1.3 million to help that effort. Leon Rose and Thibodeau were present, among others. Now he’s headed to Minny. Incredible.

Who willingly took a backseat whenever he was asked. Moved over when they traded for Rudy. Risked his health to come back early from injury to help in the playoffs. Cool.
