The Patriots’ early-season struggles in the Miami heat have been a recurring theme for almost a decade, and 2025 is no exception. Miami’s speed on offense overwhelms New England’s defense in Week 2, forcing the Patriots offense to play a style of football they are not built for. Despite a competitive game, the Patriots fall to 1-1.
Week 3 (Sept 21) – vs. Pittsburgh Steelers | Win
New England returns home and takes advantage of a Steelers team that is still coming together around Aaron Rodgers. The Patriots defensive front dictates the game, forcing 41-year-old Rodgers into costly mistakes. Behind a steady performance from Drake Maye, the Patriots move to 2-1.

Week 4 (Sept 28) – vs. Carolina Panthers | Win
New England capitalizes on a favorable matchup against a rebuilding Panthers team. The offensive line controls the game against a weak Carolina defensive front, allowing the Patriots backfield to establish the run game and move to 3-1.
Week 5 (Oct 5) – @ Buffalo Bills (SNF) | Loss

Week 6 (Oct 12) – @ New Orleans Saints | Win
The Patriots respond well on the road after a heartbreaking primetime loss. New England controls the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, leading to a dominating performance over a bad Saints team. The victory pushes the Patriots to 4-2.
Week 7 (Oct 19) – @ Tennessee Titans | Win
After being forced out of Tennessee at the conclusion of the 2023 season, Mike Vrabel will have his new team ready to play his old one. The Patriots play with urgency and physicality, overwhelming the Titans at the line of scrimmage and dictating the game from the first snap. With Vrabel setting the tone, New England moves to 5-2.
Week 8 (Oct 26) – vs. Cleveland Browns | Win
After three straight weeks on the road, the Patriots return to Foxborough to play a weak Browns team with major questions on offense. The Patriots secondary shuts down Cleveland’s receivers and creates multiple turnovers. With short fields and steady execution on offense, the Patriots move to 6-2.
Week 9 (Nov 2) – vs. Atlanta Falcons | Loss
The Patriots stumble vs. a high-powered Atlanta offense in what feels like a trap game at home. The Patriots’ offense struggles to find success through the air, and Drake Maye turns the ball over multiple times. The Falcons capitalize on New England’s mistakes, and the Patriots drop to 6-3 after three consecutive wins.
Week 10 (Nov 9) – @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Loss
The Patriots’ midseason skid continues on the road in Tampa Bay. Week 11 (Nov 13) – vs. New York Jets (TNF) | Win
On a short week, the Patriots bounce back at home in primetime against a division rival. The defense is lights out, shutting down the Jets’ offense and giving New England short fields. The run game proves effective behind Rhamondre Stevenson‘s power, moving the Patriots to 7-4.
Week 12 (Nov 23) – @ Cincinnati Bengals | Loss
This matchup serves as a measuring stick for New England against one of the AFC’s top contenders. Burrow and the Bengals ultimately come out on top, but the Patriots offense lands its share of blows to the Bengals defense. Drake Maye plays his best game of the season, proving he can compete with a top team in the conference. With the loss, the Patriots fall to 7-5.
Week 13 (Dec 1) – vs. New York Giants (MNF) | Loss
After showing they can compete with Cincinnati, the Patriots lose an ugly one at home. The Giants defensive line takes control of the game early, pressuring Drake Maye and disrupting New England’s passing attack. Despite a good performance from the Patriots defense, the Giants make enough plays to hand the Patriots a 7-6 record heading into the bye week.
Week 15 (Dec 14) – vs. Buffalo Bills | Win
Coming off the bye, the Patriots deliver one of their most complete performances of the season. The defense rises to the occasion, making Josh Allen and the Bills offense fight for every yard. Drake Maye plays with confidence, and the run game produces enough to move New England to 8-6.
Week 16 (Dec 21) – @ Baltimore Ravens | Loss
In a December slugfest, the Patriots go toe-to-toe with one of the AFC’s most physical teams. Field position becomes critical, and both sides lean heavily on defense and special teams to tilt momentum. New England holds its own throughout, but Lamar Jackson makes the difference late, handing the Patriots a loss and dropping them to 8-7.
Week 17 (Dec 28) – @ New York Jets | Win
The Patriots head back on the road needing a crucial divisional win to stay alive in the playoff race. Vrabel’s defense once again dominates, creating turnovers and consistently winning the field-position battle. Drake Maye is has a big game with his legs and the run game wears down New York late, giving the Patriots a 9-7 record heading into Week 18.
Week 18 (Jan TBD) – vs. Miami Dolphins | Win
With playoff hopes on the line for both teams, the regular season finale creates a postseason atmosphere in Foxborough. The Patriots defense plays much better at home in cold weather, limiting Miami’s explosive passing attack, causing Tua Tagovailoa to turn the ball over. Drake Maye delivers under pressure through the air in the most important game of his young career. New England closes the season with a statement win, securing a wildcard spot at 10-7.
