The Houston Texans continued turning their season around against a hobbled Baltimore Ravens team, thumping them 44-10.
From start to finish, the Texans controlled the game, not giving the Ravens an inch to work with. Back-to-back wins going into the bye week are monumental, as this can be the catalyst to overcome the 0-3 start to the season.
This game was great for Houston and the confidence moving forward.
Offensive Explosion
What a few weeks and a win can do for the offensive confidence. After smashing the Titans 26-0 a week ago, the offense continued its onslaught against the Ravens.
CJ Stroud was the most comfortable version of himself so far this season, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns on 23/27 passing. He also ripped off a 30-yard run. Last week was the Woody Marks game; this week was Nick Chubb’s, ripping off 61 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
The receivers all chipped in, with eight different players catching a pass today. Xavier Hutchinson had two touchdowns, and Nico Collins and rookie Jaylin Noel had one apiece. Tight end Dalton Schultz was reliable as ever, with five catches this afternoon. If the receivers can continue to contribute this way consistently, the season will flip sooner than later.
Defense Didn’t Blink
After pitching a shutout against the Titans, the defense only gave up 10 points this afternoon. The defense continues to minimize opposing offenses, allowing 12.2 points per game through five games.
Cooper Rush could not get his game going to try to keep the Ravens in the game, as he went 14/20 for 179 yards and three interceptions. Jalen Pitre came away with two of the interceptions, and Kamari Lassiter had the other.
The defense also prevented Derrick Henry from running all over them, holding him to 33 yards on 15 carries. With the defense continuing to be dominant, the future of the season is increasingly bright.
Bye Week and What’s To Come
Going into the bye week 2-3 with the way the losses went, the Texans could have a better record, but they should feel great. With three losses by a combined 13 points is something that the team can feel pretty good about.
Now they can sit back and watch Jacksonville play Seattle next week, and prepare for their Monday Night Football matchup in Seattle on Oct. 20.
The Texans are on the right track; the team just needs to continue the positive momentum going into the bye week and come back ready to tackle the rest of the season.
