With two weeks left in the 2026 season, the PGA Tour travels to Detroit, MI, for the Rocket Classic. As the regular season nears its end, the top 70 players who have earned the most FedEx Cup points will advance to the playoffs. Time is running out for the players to collect points. Detroit Golf Club will be the center of attention for players who are on the outside looking in.
Keegan Bradley’s Streak in Danger
Just a year ago, Keegan Bradley was at the top of the golf world. As he prepared to lead the Ryder Cup team, he was playing some of the best golf of his career. The captain finished the regular season 10th in the FedEx Cup standings, and topped it off with a career-best finish of T7 at the Tour Championship.
Due to his success, one of his biggest challenges he faced last season was his decision to play alongside his U.S. teammates. This year, however, Bradley currently sits at 76th in the FedEx Cup standings. His biggest challenge now will be making the playoffs following a heartbreaking performance at the Ryder Cup.
The eight-time PGA Tour winner is coming off his third straight Tour Championship appearance. In his 16th season on the PGA Tour, Bradley has never missed the playoffs. If he wants to keep these streaks alive, he will need to find late-season success in a year where he has struggled to find any.
The 40-year-old started his season making the cut twice in his first five starts. Since then, he’s found himself with a weekend tee time in every event but the PGA Championship. His best finish this year was T12 at the RBC Heritage back in April. He hasn’t come close to the winner’s circle this year, despite having a win in each of his last three seasons. With only five top-25 finishes so far this season, he hasn’t given himself many chances to earn points. If the Ryder Cup captain wants to find himself in the postseason, he will need one of his best finishes of the year at the Detroit Golf Club.
Bradley will be making his sixth start at the Rocket Classic this week. Making the cut in each start, his best finish at this tournament is T14 back in 2021. He is coming off a T41 finish last season. Based on how the points were awarded after last year’s tournament, Bradley will need to finish inside the top 15 to get into the postseason. He is 46 points away from the final spot.
Tony Finau Experiencing Worst Career Year
The 2026 PGA season has not been kind to the Utah native. Tony Finau is having the worst season of his 12-year tour career. In the 20 starts he’s made this year so far, he only has four top 20s. He’s never finished a year with fewer than five. Finau’s best finish this year is T6 at the CJ Cup back in May. The only time he went an entire season without a top five finish was his first full season on tour in 2015.
After missing the cut at the 3M last week, Finau is currently 87th in the FedEx Cup standings. He has never missed the post-season in his entire career. Before last year, he had made eight straight Tour Championship appearances. That streak ended after he failed to qualify for the second round a season ago, finishing T64 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. The 36-year-old is at risk of losing his playoff streak if he fails to get into the top 70. He will have one more opportunity to do so if he can’t capitalize on the Rocket Classic this week.
Although Finau missed the cut in his last start at Detroit Golf Club in 2023, he has found success at this tournament. As the winner of the 2022 Rocket Classic, Finau knows what it takes to play well at this course. The six-time winner will need to channel his winning self for his fourth start in Detroit. He can’t afford to miss another weekend, as he dropped eight spots in the standings after last week’s missed cut. Being 126 points away from the last man in, he will need to play his best golf of the year to secure a spot in the postseason.
Brandt Snedeker’s Potential Bounce-Back Season
For the first time in eight years, Brandt Snedeker is a winner on the PGA Tour. After securing 300 FedEx Cup points for his victory at the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic, the 45-year-old has put himself in a good position to make the postseason for the first time since 2021. If Snedeker can find success in Detroit this week, the 2012 Tour Champion could compete for that title once again.
Not only is Snedeker striving for a playoff spot, but he is also striving to build a winning U.S. Presidents Cup team. The 2026 Presidents Cup captain is arriving at the Rocket Classic at 83rd in the FedEx Cup standings. Making eight cuts in his 15 starts, Snedeker hasn’t put himself in a position to earn many points. Aside from the win he captured this year, he has only one top-20 finish. Coming off a week at the 3M Open where he posted the worst 36-hole score of his season to miss the cut, Snedeker will need to bounce back at a course he’s played many times before.
The 10-time PGA Tour winner will be making his seventh start at the Rocket Classic. Detroit Golf Club has not been a place where Snedeker has played well. Missing the cut here in his last three starts, his best finish came in 2019 when he finished T5. Only making the cut twice in his career at this tournament, he will need another performance similar to 2019 for his chance to play in the post-season. He is 99 points away from the final spot as it stands now.
The Rocket Classic will be the site for a crucial week of golf. Many will be playing to stay in the top 70, and others will be battling to earn their way in. A strong performance at Detroit Golf Club could be the difference between playing in the playoffs and watching it from home.
