Truly Saving Basketball
Coined by Thunder fans as the man who saved basketball, Wiggins has truly been living the meme to its truth in February. In six starts through seven games in the month, Wiggins is making the most of his opportunity.
The 55th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft is averaging 21.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the month. Additionally, he is shooting 44.9% from beyond the arc with a 71.1 TS%.
Despite a slow start to the season, Wiggins has turned it around since the year flipped over. He is averaging 14.0 points per game while shooting 37.8% from three in 2025.
His usage percentage has been 1.3% higher than his season average in February, at 22.1%, and he has responded with hyper-efficiency. This follows his season-low monthly usage percentage in January, at 16.5%, in which most of his points came off back cuts.
Wiggins scored 41 points against the Sacramento Kings in the game that fully sparked this surge. Without a doubt, an offensive explosion like that can give any player confidence.

Wiggins’ 41 points made him the seventh Thunder player who has scored 40+ points in a game. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort, and now Wiggins is written in Thunder lore.
Opportunities = Results
Head Coach Mark Daigneault has given Wiggins the opportunity to take initiative in the second unit alongside Jalen Williams. His slashing and spot-up shooting abilities have been crucial to the Thunder.
The extra gametime for Wiggins has come at the expense of Cason Wallace. The defensive-minded rising star has missed the last five games for OKC after leaving the Feb. 1st contest against the Kings early. The injury has made Wiggins a consistent starter or first man off the bench for Daigneault.
Wiggins said he is “playing confident,” and is “in a rhythm” while “finding opportunities to be aggressive” during this recent stretch. His confidence absolutely shines on the basketball court.
The Aaron Wiggins Effect
The immense output from Wiggins is showing in the win column. The Thunder have won all seven of their games in February, and he has been crucial to that record.
Wiggins is +130 in February. Along with that, the Thunder are +3.3 with him on the court versus off the court, per PBP Stats’ On/Off ratings.
Wiggins is key for OKC’s title desires, and the world is starting to take notice.

With his elite driving ability, it is hard to say this stretch is a “fluke.” Undoubtedly, this is a display of complete shot creation abilities, not just shot making.
Without a doubt, we can say “Wiggsanity” is alive and well.
