With the Bucks rescinding Marshall Plumlee’s qualifying offer (removing his ties with the team) Monday night, there is now a two-way contract opening.

Should that opening be filled by Christian Wood? Hopefully! In case you missed it, Wood played with the Bucks during Summer League and totally killed it. In five summer league games, Wood averaged 20.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks playing just over 27 minutes per game. He shot 55.4% from the field and 30.8% on three’s. In the final game against Philly he scored 27 points, snagged 12 rebounds, and blocked five shots. Granted it’s summer league, but Wood played like a beast with the Bucks summer squad.
Christian Wood is hungry, trying to prove he’s an NBA caliber player. At 22 years old, an incredible motor with tenacity on both sides of the ball, this one is easy. The Bucks should definitely offer this kid a two-way contract. Only thing standing in the way of that are other teams who can offer him an NBA deal; somebody certainly will after his standout summer league play. At 6’11” and 220 lbs., he isn’t a large body, but he plays with an urgency any team would want.
Having went undrafted in 2015 after two seasons with UNLV, Wood has been trying to find his place in the NBA. He came into the NBA with the 2015 Houston Rockets summer league team. That fall he was scooped up by the Philadelphia 76ers organization, spending time between Philly and their development league team in Delaware. In July of 2016, Wood signed with Charlotte, but again bounced between the Hornets and their affiliate, Greensboro Swarm. After his second season, Wood entered free agency. During the 2017 NBA summer league in Orlando, Wood helped the Dallas Mavericks win the championship, but then signed with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association in August. But before that season began, Wood was waived and then returned to the Delaware 87ers.
Wood is looking for his big break, and hopefully it will be with the Bucks. Seems like a slam dunk, for the right price.
