Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said that free-agent signee Ben McLemore has undergone successful surgery on his fifth metatarsal. McLemore suffered the injury while playing a pickup game. McLemore will be expected to miss a couple of months, according to REALGM, which will delay his debut with the Grizzlies.
“Ben McLemore will be out for 12 weeks with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The injury occurred when he landed on another player’s foot after driving to the basket during a pick-up game in Los Angeles.”
McLemore signed a 2-year, $10.7 million contract with the Grizzlies in free agency, leaving the Sacramento Kings after four seasons, where he averaged 9 points and 2 rebounds per game.
McLemore was coming into a situation where he would have a slightly higher role offensively due to the Grizzlies lacking strength in that department. The Grizzlies also picked up Tyreke Evans, Memphis native, in the offseason and will heavily rely on him now to fill the void that will be left.
Possibly, McLemore could see action as early as November, according to reports.
