The Boston Celtics are making it clear that they plan on making a deep playoff run this season.
Sources have told The Lead that the Celtics and Bulls have accelerated trade talks about all-star starter Jimmy Butler, though they would have to give up a lot for this trade to happen.
The Celtics have plenty of assets to acquire a star, highlighted by a plethora of future draft picks, including Brooklyn’s pick in the 2017 draft, currently poised for the highest chance at landing the top overall pick in a heavily stacked draft class. Terry Rozier, Amir Johnson, and Jae Crowder have also been brought up for a possible deal.
The Bulls on the other hand hold the seven spot in the Eastern conference, but this is not close to where they had hoped they would be at the beginning of the season. Excluding the Knicks, the Bulls are close to being the most dysfunctional team in the NBA, but somehow remain in the playoff mix. Their team chemistry on and off the court has made Chicago’s front office think about making a significant change to their roster.
