The Warriors are bringing back yet another piece from last year’s championship team, as JaVale McGee reportedly agreed to re-sign with the Warriors on a one-year deal, Chris Haynes of ESPN broke via Twitter.
McGee was used as a backup center last season behind Zaza Pachulia. Despite only recording 9.6 minutes per contest, the 11-year veteran averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in a career-high 77 games played. McGee utilized his minimal minutes to provide a very significant spark off Golden State’s bench on both ends of the floor.
McGee re-joins a team that added sharpshooters in Omri Casspi and Nick Young this offseason, which should only strengthen their bench even further.
