When it’s all about figuring out who the MVP is, the numbers they rack up on the court never lie.

Add in the number of rings on their fingers and the success of their shoes and jerseys, and you have everything you need to determine who the main man is.

Except you’re missing one thing.

In the modern NBA, social clout matters more than it ever has. Fans follow players now as much as they follow teams and franchises, and follower numbers represent big business.

To show you who’s leading when it comes to followers, we’re going to take a look at 5 NBA superstars who consistently post unbelievable numbers on social media.

LeBron James

With an incredible 213 million followers across all of his platforms, King James certainly wears the crown when it comes to social media.

He can add this title to his four championship rings, his record for the most points, and the fact that he just never seems to age.

Some of LeBron’s most viral posts have been of him taking to the court in LA with his son. To see father and son turn out for the Lakers and push for the playoffs is something the sporting world is never going to see again, and it’s safe to say that LeBron’s fans simply cannot get enough of it. If you then add in the fact that his professional shots on Instagram have a habit of catching the eye by showing you something truly incredible, you start to see why he has become something of a global powerhouse on social media.

Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors are home to LeBron’s eternal rival and a man who can make shooting three-pointers look like it’s nothing.

At the time of writing, Steph has over 75.6 million followers across all platforms, and his total is growing every time he takes to the court. This is a generational talent who is able to stay cool, calm, and collected when the game comes to a clutch moment, and his fans love him for it.

Curry’s clean image and quietly confident exterior have made him something of an icon in every country around the world that follows the NBA. Being able to get closer to him via his socials is something that his fans have clearly taken to, not least of all because they can quickly and easily see what he is up to in training and learn about his practice drills. Some of the shooting drills he has uploaded are truly out of this world.

Kevin Durant

Durant is fast approaching the 35-million follower mark, and if his current growth is anything to go by, he’ll have smashed through that barrier by the time you read this article!

He’s iconic, charismatic, and just so cool. The result is an athlete who transcends his sport in a way that few others can. His ability to make the impossible seem like an everyday occurrence because of faultless technique and nerveless execution is a joy to behold.

Fans of the big man will be able to see him prep in the gym, do drills on the practice court, and fly across the US for his next showdown on the court. The beauty of following him on social media is that he is always connecting with his fans and providing new ways they can engage with him.

Russell Westbrook

The man needs no introduction, but we love him so much we’re going to give it to him anyway!

The guy even has the charisma off the court to rival some of the world’s great entertainers outside of the world of sports. Westbrook can hang with everyone from Rihanna and India’s biggest influencers to A-list movie stars and supermodels when it comes to charisma and flamboyance. It’s just what you would expect from a man whose follower count is growing by millions every month.

With 23 million Instagram followers, Brodie’s social media presence mainly captures his philanthropic efforts and bold fashion choices. Westbrook’s clothing brand, Honor the Gift, which he launched in 2016, showcases his specific taste in fashion. It is committed to giving back to the community and empowering children through its foundation.

Don’t let Westbrook’s on-court tenacity and angry playstyle fool you. He is wholeheartedly committed to enriching the lives of others and uses his social media presence as a vehicle to do that.

Kyrie Irving

Last but by no means least, how could we forget this guy?

He’s been in the news a lot the last few seasons for stuff on and off the court, so it’s safe to say that the world cannot get enough of him. Whether it’s driving to the rim or pulling up at a show, Kyrie has a habit of bringing all eyes in his direction. Is it any wonder that his social media has been blowing up lately?

At 20.3 million followers on Instagram alone, Kyrie’s authentic expression of himself through his religious conviction and social activism play a huge role in his popularity. Love him or hate him, you can’t knock Kyrie’s commitment to authenticity.

Honorable Mention

No list of the hottest NBA players in the social media world would be complete without the 7’4 phenom known to his friends as ‘Wemby.’ He’s a once-in-a-lifetime athlete who won Rookie of the Year in his first season playing straight out of school. If there’s one man who may someday take the social media throne, this is the guy we all need to be looking out for.
