The 2025 NBA All-Star Game is quickly approaching in February, and with voting underway, Cleveland Cavaliers fans have plenty to be excited about.

While Donovan Mitchell remains the top contender among the team’s stars, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland are making strong cases for their All-Star spots.

Based on second voting returns, Mitchell remains the most likely of the three to earn a spot. He ranks second among guards in the Eastern Conference, with Mobley moving up to eighth from 10th in the first returns among frontcourt players.

Garland, meanwhile, has risen to ninth among East guards after being outside of the top ten in the first returns.

The Favored Cavalier

Donovan Mitchell has long been considered one of the top players in the NBA and is widely expected to make his sixth consecutive All-Star appearance.

This season, he has been nothing short of spectacular, averaging 22.9 points and 4.6 assists per game on 45% shooting from the floor and an impressive 41% from beyond the arc.

Mitchell’s ability to energize the team and ignite the crowd with no-look passes and dynamic plays has made him one of the most exciting players to watch.

Mitchell has repeatedly proven that he is the heartbeat of the Cavs, always driving momentum for his team.

Mobley’s All-Star Push

Evan Mobley has also emerged as a strong contender for his first All-Star selection.

The 22-year-old has shown significant growth in his game this season, posting career-high averages of 18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. His shooting efficiency is even more impressive, with Mobley connecting on 57.3% of his field-goal attempts and a remarkable 40.4% from three-point range.

Mobley had another standout performance in a Dec. 16 win over the Dallas Mavericks, where he exploded for 34 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in 30 minutes of play.

With his ability to score from the perimeter and increasingly aggressive play around the rim, Mobley has shown that he belongs among the NBA’s elite. His potential to break into the All-Star conversation is growing with each game.

Garland’s All-Star Potential

Darius Garland has quietly become one of the most talented point guards in the NBA. His recent play has put him squarely in the All-Star conversation.

After a difficult 2023-2024 season, in which he dealt with weight loss issues and recovery from jaw surgery, Garland has bounced back in a big way.

The 24-year-old is averaging 20.4 points and 6.7 assists per game, all while shooting a career-high 49.4% from the floor and 42.9% from beyond the arc.

After struggling with weight loss issues last season, Garland is back to his best form and playing at a high level now that he has recovered from jaw surgery.

His ability to push past setbacks and return to All-Star-level play is admirable.

Garland tends to be overlooked when he’s doing remarkable things for the Cavs and basketball fans in general. However, his confidence and ability to lead the team has grown immensely.

“Yeah, I feel underrated,” Garland told Yahoo Sports. “I don’t really get the credit that I deserve … but we’ll keep making strides in the right direction, keep growing and that’s how you move on.”

On Dec. 30, on the road against the Warriors, he scored a game-high 25 points and dished eight assists. Garland finished 10-of-17 from the floor and scored 16 in the first half.

The Cavs Deserve 3 All-Stars

As the 2025 NBA All-Star Game nears, the Cavaliers have three players making a strong case for a spot on the roster. Donovan Mitchell continues to prove he’s one of the league’s elite, while Evan Mobley’s breakout season has made him one of the most promising young stars in the game. Darius Garland, fully healthy again, is playing at an All-Star level.

Although only a few spots are available, all three deserve recognition for their impressive performances this year. As the voting process unfolds, seeing if fans and coaches reward the Cavs’ rising talent will be exciting.

Cleveland’s future is bright, and this could be just the start of seeing more of their stars shine on the biggest stage.
