Week 8 Fantasy Football: Buy-Low Trade Targets

As we enter the second half of the NFL season, it’s time to predict second-half breakouts from young players as they advance in their career arcs. If correct, these players could help put fantasy teams over the top come the fantasy playoffs. As always, I’ll be here every Wednesday with three players to make inquiries on.

DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Smith has caught just four balls in his past two games, but his snap share and route participation remain near the top of the league. A.J. Brown has dominated lately, but things tend to even out for the duo. Smith has a 25% target share on the season, a strong number alongside an elite player like Brown.

The Eagles also have one of the easiest schedules in the league from here on out, so I’m looking to buy Smith after a couple of muted performances.

Jordan Addison, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Addison has registered exactly three catches in all four appearances this season, but he’s been efficient with those looks, earning 17.4 yards per reception.

His playing time was limited during his first two appearances while coming off injuries, and his snap share was irregularly low in both contests. Now healthy, his snap share has averaged over 90% in the past two games, but he saw tough matchups in both games. The Vikings schedule gets easier from here, opening up plenty of opportunity for Addison to make a difference for fantasy teams in the second half of the year.

Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts

This is the true definition of a buy-low.

Managers everywhere are considering cutting Richardson, so it shouldn’t take much to get him. The reason for optimism with Richardson is the return of Jonathan Taylor, the engine of the Colts offense. It’s not surprising Richardson and the offense bottomed out without him, especially since they faced three of the top defenses in the league in the Bears, Steelers and Dolphins.

In Week 8, the Colts get the Texans, who will be the easiest defensive matchup they’ve faced since playing them Week 1. Richardson will find the end zone this week for the first time since Week 2, so trade the worst player on your bench for him if you need a quarterback.
