Utah Jazz star C Rudy Gobert will return from a 15-game absence stemming from a knee injury Friday night versus the New York Knicks.
The French rim protector and All-Defensive First team member suffered a bruised left tibia and a PCL sprain in his left knee. The Jazz struggled in his absence, going 4-11 and falling out of the playoff picture. They are currently 18-26 and sitting at 10th in the Western Conference. They are five games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot.
This isn’t the first time Gobert has missed time this season because of a knee injury. Earlier this season, Gobert missed 11 games because of a bone bruise in his right knee. Gobert has only suited up for 18 games this season. His lack of play has stunted the Jazz’s playoff push, as his defensive prowess puts them on another level.
Hopefully with a healthy Gobert and a future star in Donovan Mitchell, the Utah Jazz can make a decent playoff push in the second half of the season.
