After the conclusion of the 2025-2026 NFL season, there are only a few things for fans to look forward to. That includes the NFL draft, free agency, trades, and eventually fantasy football. The NFL draft is now done, and most free agents have already signed with teams. Since there are not many more big-name trades, it is finally time for people around the world to start studying NFL stars for fantasy football.
Every year, fans wonder which running backs and wide receivers are going to break out this year. With that said, there are several receivers that are flying under the radar on most draft boards. However, they are also looking extremely promising for a big breakout this fantasy football season.
Luther Burden
In the 2025-2026 season, the Chicago Bears were one of, if not the biggest, surprise teams as they dominated their way to the postseason. They kept winning in big-time moments. However, the Rams ultimately outmatched them in the Divisional Round.
Luther Burden was a huge part of Chicago’s success this last season, proving to be a great pairing with superstar quarterback Caleb Williams. During the season, Burden put together a solid rookie season with a total of 47 receptions, 652 yards, and 2 touchdowns. His most impressive stat, though, was his average yards per reception at 13.9.
The Bears also traded primary receiver D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason. It is clear now more than ever that Burden is going to have a new and much bigger role. With that being said, you can expect Burden to be the next breakout receiver in fantasy football. Also, don’t be surprised if he skyrockets up draft boards.
Jaylen Waddle
Miami’s former key wideout has always proven to be consistent and reliable. He has done so even with quarterback struggles, team issues, and other situations that would hold most players back.
On March 18th, the Dolphins traded Waddle to the Denver Broncos. In doing so, Waddle finally landed on a true playoff contender with a solidified quarterback in Bo Nix. As a result, many expect him to become the main target in this offense.
Even with the lackluster season from Miami, Waddle still managed to provide 64 receptions, 910 yards, and 6 touchdowns. Now with a team that just made the AFC Championship, expect Waddle’s contributions and stats to only improve as he could become a game-changer for a fantasy football team.
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka was arguably the best rookie wide receiver last season with Tampa Bay. He proved that he can be a real threat to any team at any point in time. Now that long-time Bucs receiver Mike Evans has joined the 49ers, Egbuka will be the primary target.
In his rookie season, Emeka Egbuka put up impressive numbers, racking up 63 receptions, 938 yards, and 6 total touchdowns. Going into his sophomore season in the NFL, most expect him to only get better and be one of the best starting receivers in fantasy football.
Michael Pittman
The Indianapolis Colts traded Michael Pittman to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, where he should make a jump. The team has also confirmed that they will be getting Aaron Rodgers back for his final season in the NFL.
Despite the disappointing ending and quarterback injuries, Pittman Jr. still put together a solid season. The wideout recorded 80 receptions, 784 yards, and 7 touchdowns. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers tends to love big targets, and Pittman is just that guy. He could certainly be a sleeper this season, and possibly even a breakout.
Carnell Tate
In this year’s NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans picked Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick. Thus, the rookie already has lofty expectations. Tate’s high selection was justified by his 2025 season stats. The former Buckeye put up 51 receptions, 875 yards, and 9 touchdowns. He also averaged 79.5 yards per game and finished the year with zero drops.
With this selection, quarterback Cam Ward finally has his number one receiving target, and many expect him to be the best rookie wideout this season. Tate has already shown off in the Titans’ OTAs with highlight plays, proving that he is ready to catch NFL defenses by surprise.
